Summary

This bill strengthens the accessibility regulations put forth in the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010. Standards for closed-captioning and audio description in television and online video platforms would be improved, and entities would have to ensure that users are easily able to choose closed captioning settings on their devices. Video conferencing platforms would also have to update and improve their accessibility features. Similarly, 911 services would be required to provide equitable access for people with disabilities. This act grants the FTC authority to continue to update accessibility regulations as new technologies continue to emerge.
