Summary

The Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act - H.R. 7521, also known as the TikTok bill, was attached to a national security and foreign aid spending bill that includes funding for Ukraine and Israel. The bill would force TikTok’s China-based parent company, ByteDance, to divest from China or face a ban from app stores in the US. The bill's language was amended to give ByteDance up to nine months to sell its stake in TikTok, with the option for an additional 90-day extension by the President, compared to six months in the earlier legislation.
