William Xu

William Xu is a PhD Candidate in Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University and member of Mineral-X, a research group focused on using AI to develop more secure, sustainable, and equitable critical mineral supply chains for the clean energy transition. In his research, William works on designing mineral and chemical processes under uncertainty to improve efficiency and reduce waste. As a RAISE Fellow, he is also working with communities in the Salton Sea region of southern California where lithium extraction facilities are being constructed with the goal of informing state policymakers on how lithium extraction tax revenue can best be distributed to benefit the local communities.
