Sydney DeMets
Sydney DeMets is a graduate research assistant at the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public and a doctoral candidate at the UW Information School. She studies the influence of media and opinion leaders on the diffusion of false, misleading, and unverified misinformation. She specifically applies methods, concepts, and theories from network science to explore how medium and prominent actors interact to impact the mutability of information and cross-media information cascades. Her recent work focuses on audio and text-based media.
