Shannon Dosemagen

Shannon Dosemagen focuses on using open systems and participatory strategies to advance environmental governance. She co-founded Public Lab (Executive Director, 2010–2020) and the Gathering for Open Science Hardware. In 2020, she founded the Open Environmental Data Project, serving as Executive Director through 2024 and now continuing as a Senior Fellow. Shannon serves on the boards of the National Parks Conservation Association, Code for Science and Society, and the Open Science Hardware Foundation. Her previous leadership includes chairing the National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology and the Citizen Science Association. An Ashoka Fellow, she has also held fellowships with the Harvard Berkman Klein Center, the Rita Allen Foundation, Claneil Foundation, and the Shuttleworth Foundation.
