Janyl Jumadinova

Janyl Jumadinova, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. She currently serves as the Chair of Computer and Information Science while also teaching various courses in introductory programming, algorithms, software engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, and security. Along with her colleagues at Allegheny College, she has been working on the College’s ethiCS Responsible Computer Science effort. Dr. Jumadinova’s research is driven by the goal of designing autonomous systems that can improve quality of life. Her research focuses on solving problems that occur when performing dynamic and complex tasks in unknown environments. She holds a Ph.D. in information technology and a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She also received her Bachelor of Science in management information systems summa cum laude from Peru State College in Nebraska. Dr. Jumadinova is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). She received the IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) SIGHT in Robotics for Humanitarian Technology in 2019 and has been a reviewer for the Journal of IEEE Access and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics.
