J. Nathan Matias

Dr. J. Nathan Matias is an Assistant Professor at the Cornell University Department of Communication. He holds a Ph.D. from MIT Media Lab’s Center for Civic Media, a Master’s from MIT, and a dual Master’s and BA from Cambridge University. He has been a fellow at Columbia University’s Knight First Amendment Institute, Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center, Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy, and Stanford’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. He is co-author of the forthcoming book Auditing AI, the founder of the Citizens and Technology Lab, and a co-founder of the Coalition for Independent Technology Research.
