Hanna Barakat

Hanna Barakat is a Human-Computer Interaction and Science & Technology Studies researcher at Computer Says Maybe, a public interest firm focused on the politics of technology. Her research focuses on digital information networks and systemic bias against marginalized communities. She has previously led and worked on research projects at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems’ Safety & Society Lab. Her research has been featured in top journals, including CSCW (Computer-Supported Cooperative Work) and ICWSM (International Conference on Web and Social Media). She has a BA in International Relations from Brown University. Hanna is also a competitive runner who ran in the 2020 Olympic Games.
