Ellery Roberts Biddle is the editorial director of Ranking Digital Rights, a research program housed at New America that evaluates the world's most powerful tech companies against human rights standards. Ellery has been active in the global digital rights community for nearly ten years, primarily as the advocacy director at Global Voices, where she worked with an international network of writers, activists, and technologists telling stories about media freedom in the digital age, and the effects of technology on the lives and human rights of users around the world. She also has worked as a policy analyst with the Center for Democracy & Technology, and was a fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society from 2014-2017. In addition to Global Voices, she has written for The New York Times, Slate, The Guardian, Quartz, and Americas Quarterly.
