Danai Nhando

Danai Nhando is an international human rights lawyer, public interest technologist, and AI governance expert. She is a Global Advisor at the Atlantic Council's Freedom and Prosperity Center and AI and New Engagement Strategies Campaign Director at a global non-profit, leading the integration of responsible AI tools for global advocacy. As Change.org's Founding Country Director in Africa, Danai institutionalized South Africa's Digital Petitions Framework, the first direct link between a digital petition platform and a national legislature, scaling it to 6 million users and producing verified policy and legislative outcomes. Her research contributes evidence-based frameworks for edTech implementation and policy design in developing contexts, with specialized focus on rights-based AI, digital surveillance, and children's rights. She holds an MPA from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of London, and a BCom (Law and Economics) and LLB from Rhodes University.
