Cristina Tardáguila

Cristina Tardáguila is a senior journalist focused on combating mis/disinformation. She is the founder of Lupa, the largest fact-checking organization in Brazil, and a research consultant for the Digital Democracy Institute of the Americas (DDIA). Tardáguila writes weekly columns for Univision and is deeply interested on how online threats impact Latinos. Tardáguila studied Journalism at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), obtained a master's degree in Journalism from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain, and earned an MBA in Digital Marketing from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-Rio). Throughout her career as a reporter and editor, she has worked for O Globo, Folha de S.Paulo, Globo.com, revista piauí, and EFE. Tardáguila was the Associate Director of the International Fact-Checking Network, at the Poynter Institute, and a Senior Program Director at the International Center for Journalists.
