Since leaving Meta in 2021, Silverman has become a leading advocate for social media transparency and researcher access to platform data. He has worked with lawmakers on legislation in the U.S. and abroad, testified before the U.S. Senate and Australian Parliament, and advised the White House and European Commission. His commentary has appeared in outlets including The New York Times, CNN, and the BBC. Silverman is currently a Knight Policy Fellow at George Washington University’s Institute for Data, Democracy & Politics, an affiliate at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center, and an advisor to several think tanks and civil society organizations.
