Alexios Mantzarlis

Alexios Mantzarlis is the director of the Security, Trust, and Safety Initiative at Cornell Tech and author of Faked Up. Alexios brings over a decade of leadership in online information quality across the media, research and technology sectors. As a principal in Google Trust & Safety, he led Search's content policy response to the War in Ukraine and founded the adversarial red team for generative AI content. In his prior role as director of the International Fact Checking Network, Alexios shepherded a seminal partnership between fact-checkers and Facebook and was a member of the European Union’s High Level Group on online disinformation. Prior to that, Alexios co-founded Italy's premier fact-checking website Pagella Politica.
